Amazon’s Wireless Speaker, Echo, Has Voice-Recognition Features

Nov 12, 2014 amazon, amazon prime, cloud, 0 Comments

Echo, Amazon’s wireless speaker, was recently introduced to the market as a jukebox with voice recognition. It should be available soon and will sell for $199, which puts it in direct competition with Sonos’ wireless speaker system.

More than just a speaker, Echo will be able to announce the weather and pull up your favorite radio programs in the morning. It can also spell out words and tell you jokes, if you desire.

The speaker has a Siri-like understanding of syntax and it can be activated by saying, “Alexa” — or a new command that you assign it.

Amazon Prime members are expected to receive an invitation to purchase it at an introductory bargain price of $99.
