Big Theater Chains Won’t Show Netflix Movie

Some major theater chains have decided not to show “Beasts of No Nation,” a war film acquired by Netflix earlier this week, because the streaming giant will release the movie online at the same time, later this year.

AMC, Cinemark, Carmike and Regal Cinemas are among the theater chains that won’t show the movie in their theaters.

Most films are released for home viewing, whether on streaming devices or on demand, about three months after the movie comes out in theaters.

A few months ago, most of these same theater chains decided not to show “Crouching Tiger 2” in their IMAX theaters, also because it will be available on Netflix on the same day.
