Google made a deal with several of the biggest wireless carriers in the United States to get their Google Wallet payments application pre-installed on their smartphones.

Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and AT&T will pre-install the Google Wallet app on their Android cell phones later in 2015.

This will allow shoppers to tap their phones to pay at checkout in many retail stores with brick-and-mortar locations, much like Apple Pay.

Google is also buying technology from Softcard, which is a payments app backed by several of the same carriers.
