Over-the-Top Box Startup ‘Fan TV’ Might Be Done
Recode.net reports that startup Fan TV is looking for a buyer and that the initial investors are likely not going to get all of their money back.
Fan TV is a set-top box that integrated web video and pay-TV programming, but it was difficult for them to get much help from the pay-TV providers.
The concept was innovative because most devices don’t tie in content from both streaming apps, like iTunes and Netflix, and Cable TV. It was hoping to replace both Apple TV and Roku.
Unfortunately, they just couldn’t coordinate with providers like Time Warner Cable and Comcast.
